i'm looking for a league for kids that are interested in shooting semi-competitive around the baton rouge area. my oldest son and i shoot at hunter's run occasionally and i have my own property where we shoot. he is pretty good for his age and a whole lot better than i was at his age. i'd like to try and offer him the opportunity to step-it-up a notch. tia wickowick, you know anything?
Yes,minus the tryouts. You do have to qualify for certain events though. I actually went to a few of their practices and shot some events with them (they would enter non-club events for practice sometimes). The kids REALLY enjoyed it and there is some very stiff competition at the state level.
The quality of the program depends on your parish though. If the program is already established than you should definitely look into it. If the program isn't established yet its a little more work, but still very worth it. It gives lots of kids the opportunity to get into shooting. My brother's club had a few kids with very little shooting experience and they learned from the other kids who grew up shooting.
It's really a great program when the parents let the kids have fun. You'll have to help with organizing practices and things like that.
