Does anyone know what weekend the youth hunt is in area 2? I've looked on the state site but can't find it. Disclaimer I may have overlooked completely.

Tomorrow!!

REB Jr and I are hitting the road the minute he walks in the door from school at 2:30. We plan on sitting in a stand the evening just to see what we see and letting him shoot one in the morning.

Just another little head's up, kids can hunt with any weapon during primitive arms season just in case you can't get them out to hunt this weekend.

Awesome, one more dumb question. Does my 7 year old have to have taken the hunters safety course to hunt? I wasn't sure if there was a cutoff age since I will be in the stand with him. He has his lifetime license already

No person born on or after Sept. 1, 1969, shall hunt unless that person has been issued a certificate of satisfactorily comple-tion of a Hunter Education course approved by LDWF.
EXCEPT a person may hunt without hunter education certification if they are accompanied by and under direct supervision of a person who was born before Sept. 1, 1969 and has a valid hunting license or they are accompanied by and under the direct supervision of a person who is 18 years of age or older and has proof of completion of a hunter education course approved by the department. Direct supervision means that the person being super-vised is within a normal audible voice contact and in direct line of sight of the supervising person at all times while hunting.
EXCEPT this requirement shall not apply to any active or veteran member of the United States armed services or any POST-certified law enforcement officer who may be issued a hunter education exemption.

We're gonna brave the skeeters for a couple of hours in the morning. SCjr's already got an itchy trigger finger.
