My little brother enjoys hunting and is always asking to shoot my bow. He is 11 years old and rather thin. What is a good starter bow? I don't want to spend a ton of money as he is growing quickly and I will probably get him a full size bow when he starts putting some meat on his bones. I just want something to teach him the basics and let him get the feeling for it. I see several in the $100 range. What do y'all recommend?

Well I assume this isnt to kill deer. I think in Louisiana you need a minimum poundage of 40-45 to legally kill a deer and you make him seem like he cant do that. Anyways, a $100 compound bow will be fine to teach him grip and how to minimize torque and stuff. He should start with that and when he can start pulling more and if he enjoys it, then you can upgrade him to an actual bow.

Check out the Mission line of youth bows. They have adjustable draw lengths so the bow can grow with the young person. My youngest has one and loves it.
