Xpress Boats Size/Type Recommendations

I'm looking at an 18ft Xpress bass or bay boat. It will be used 60% marsh/salt water and 40% at Toledo. I'm leaning towards bay, but I do like the no carpet option bass boat.
Any Recommendations?
I've heard the camo package makes the boat really hot in the summer. Any truth to this?
Lastly, will the 115 Yamaha be enough power?

Don't about the bay boat vs bass boat question but

The 90 Yami would probably be enough so yes on the 115.

If the vast majority of your freshwater fishing will be Toledo, then absolutely go with the bay option. That lake gets rough in a hurry.

I have a 20' H20B. I use it for salt and freshwater fishing. It does great for an alum boat, wind will push you around but thats a given. Get the 115hp for an 18' and 150hp for a 20'. My FIL, who fishes 99% shallow water redfish in leeville, has the 18' bass boat with the 115hp and it scoots pretty damn good and that is with the crappy SS powertech prop and no jackplate. If you will be in open water, id go with the the bay style hull. I still hit the redfish ponds and inland marsh with no problem in my 20'

I have the same boat as seapickle( the hb20 with 115) and it's a great boat..I have the 115 on it and i get about 41 mph the 150 is not needed and it's good on fuel, only thing I did was upgrade the hummingbird crap to a lowrance dsi 5 unit and I'm Putting a power pole and jack plate this month
It's a great boat and if you fish marsh i would go with it , they are coming out wih a shallow water bay also. I get in the shallow ponds in mine with no problem

The 150 is not needed but the 115hp needs help on a 20' boat but I agree, it sips gas. I put a Yamaha k-series prop and got more bow lift and +3 mph. The motor comes set too low from the factory, the anti-ventilation plate is buried when on plane and acts like a brake, I can only get 5500 rpms before it blows out. Soon I will be adding a 10' jackplate which will give more lift, allow the motor to run better rpms and get a few more mph.

I am looking at the Express bass as well. Torn between the 115 and 150. Is the 150 just a waste of money or are there any benefits from stepping up to it. The reason I ask is that not only will I fish and hunt out of it, but it will be a tubing/ski boat for my kids. My son is 200 and is still growing. Don't want to be under horsepowered pulling his big arse around.
What about a jack plate? Needed or no?

Jackplate is a must! I'd go with 10" setback to get all the help you can with the 115hp. Can't speak for the 150 but it won't need help to hold the bow up but the motor may need to be raised. A few of my friends have noticed that my boat runs flat or "low in the front." When trimming the motor up, not much bow lift happens after a short amount of trim and the prop starts sucking in air way too early.
Get the 150hp if tubing. The 115 is enough for the average fisherman but will be lacking the arse to "get up and go" when pulling 200lbs out the water also

No problem. I don't need to go 60mph but the 115hp just needs a little help for that length of boat. The 115hp on the 18' is more than enough, same as the 150 on a 20'.

I have an 18ft xpress bass boat, with a 90 Yamaha. I love it. I would recommend getting the center console though. That is my only regret. A 115 is more than enough for that boat. I don't have carpet at all and love it and wouldn't recommend it due to easy maintenance

Seapicke..email me info on prop I can only get 5500 also I thought about raising motor but just going with a plate..

I have a 2003 18' CC Alum. Xpress with a 90hp, and I love the boat, it's a lot wider than most 90" from side to side. The 90 pushes just fine, but as a boat aficionado i want to put a 115 etec with a hydraulic plate. Does anyone have a recommendation for jack plates, and how much do they charge to install...TIA.

my pop has a 21ft xpress bay boat and the 115 he has on there is more than enough power to get around all day in the marsh!
