Up until recently I've always concealed carried via an ankle holster, my continued justification for this was that despite I'm slower to get to it it was so comfortable I had no problem carrying all the time. Recently I've decided to start carrying a slightly larger pistol and as small as my XDS .45 3.3 is I've found it to be heavier on my ankle than I'm comfortable with. For the time being im not interested in buying another pistol so I'd just like to explore some different waistband cases. Anyone have any daily wear favories? I've done some searching online but seem to see the same few models everywhere and was hoping for something more. I'm a lefty if anyone can offer any first hand advice

I think White Hat makes some great custom holsters. I have a buddy who carries that exact XDs45 in one and he says it's like he's not even wearing it - super comfortable.

I carry one daily. It's not bad if you're a manly man. Carry mine in a crossbreed holster.

What is the appeal of having a .45 caliber CC gun? I dont get why anyone would choose that when the same gun in 9mm is available and will give you more firepower (8rds vs 6rds) and weighs less.

I have a Rigid Hybrid for my XDs, but any hybrid would do. I have the N82 Tactical for my P238 and love it.

This is generally my line of thinking with CC - you're already limited on rounds if you carry a smaller gun. So the most ammo is available if sticking with 9mm.

But some guys just feel better with the bigger bores. Besides the fact that it will make your carry gun much heavier (45 weighs about twice what 9mm does) it'll still get the job done.

Why not carry a .22lr? Same answer can be said for carrying a 45ACP over a 9mm, minus the rimfire portion.

IMO, 7 rounds of 45ACP > 9 rounds of 9mm.

much heavier

XDs45 = 26 ounces loaded XDs9 = 23 ounces loaded
This LINK actually has the XDs45 as lighter than the 9mm.

Empty, the XDs .45 is lighter than the 9mm by a fraction because of the barrel.

Lefty beat me to it:

I can carry more rounds in a smaller 9mm because 22lr is a rimmed cartridge. My M&P9c holds 12 whereas a full-gripped M&P22 holds 10.

Plus 22lr is a rimfire cartridge and is inherently more unreliable than centerfire ammo.

Good try though.

Both ignored that those weights were loaded, though.

The issues with a rim-fire for self defense is not lost upon me. However, at what point does more rounds become less effective, in your opinion, than greater ballistics? 8 rounds of 45ACP is less effective than 9 rounds of 9mm? Weight has been proven to be minimal, possibly even in the 45s advantage, in this application.

Auburngrad,
I don't have a XDs 3.3, but I do have a Kahr CW45 and size wise they look pretty similar. Most of the time I use the "Tuck Clip"

ETA: One of the nice things about "Tuck Clip" is that is uses a single clip unlike most other similar tuckable holsters that use 2 clips, making it MUCH easier to get in and out of. Such a holster might not work well w/ a heavier gun, but since it works fine w/ my CW45 it should work well w/ your XDs.

I like to use the Remora if I'm not wearing a belt, e.g. I need to throw on a pair of sweat pants to run to the store.

Now, in your defense, if a person is uncomfortable carrying a 45, then don't carry it. A carry gun is only useful if you carry it. Furthermore, I had the same discussion yesterday, in the last 10 years, NYPD's miss percentage was around 78% per shot. In 85% of the cases, only the police were shooting.

The NYPD has more training than 90% of Americans. If we can extrapolate their data and statistics, we need as many bullets as possible and damn the caliber.

Is it just the 2015 models that only come with 5 and 6 rd mags then?

Yes. I would rather have 9 rounds of 9mm over 8rds of 45acp.
