I oppose them right now but I have been thinking.

If they were cheap. Like a dollar. You would then get accurate reporting, and could fish when you wanted to.

Problem is who gets them.

And I want commercials to have to do them too. I think charter boats already have full reporting don't they?

Could also wipe out illegal sales and make restaurant give you tag on side of your red snapper to show it's really red snapper.

If only you didn't have to deal with ducking concil and marine fisheries

I was thinking about a tag system as well but one in which all recs (who purchase a fishing license) could apply for and get a certain amount of tags. Then you could fish for them whenever you wanted.

That's fine, but the commercials still shouldn't get 1 more fish than the recreational anglers. Why are they allowed that privilege?

yea lets do it for redfish and trout too!!!!!!

the control just needs to be taken away from the Gulf Counsel lets the states manage their population of their federal waters. From what i understand, As of right now the population of red snapper on artificial reef systems are not counted in the equation to calculated how much fish should be harvested.

LOL I realize that........

Who regulates what necessitates a gamefish? I know redfish have this status, but who is the one to make this decision?

When you run the numbers that the Gulf Council is using each angler wouldn't even get one tag per year so how are tags going to be distributed? The problem is the gulf council, until they are abolished and states control out to 200 miles nothing will change. Some are holding out hope for a recreational majority in a few years on the council, I'm not holding my breath that's ever going to happen.

Who in the hell are these bureaucrats and how in the hell did they get there? Is there no way we can get the senators/congressman of the coastal states to run these assholes out on a rail? I keep saying it isn't the politicians that are dangerous, it's the faceless/nameless bureaucrats that aren't elected to a damn thing, but they run on everyday lives more than most realize.

Seems like a no brainer, unless the commercial lobby has all of the other unaffected states have the votes bought (which I assume they do).

Take a look at the war chest EDF has at it's disposal, they are pulling the strings behind the curtain. They convinced and paid off the CFH hacks that were able to carve out their portion and will throw them under the bus when the time comes. Their agenda is to get everybody off the water, they'd love a tag system they could somehow get a large percentage of and lock people out. Foundation's like the WalMart family has gives EDF money hand over fist for their "Share The Gulf" bullshite. Hopefully Trumps new Commerce Secretary drains the swamp in federal fisheries area but there's no evidence of that yet and the current bills the gulf states are pushing seem to be up a hill climb to get passed. What a absolute cluster f.
