Would any of you attach a pergola to your roof?

I have a dilemma with the support columns falling directly into the walkway and the best solution is to attach it to the roof to eliminate the need for those two columns that will be in the way.

Yes that can be done, I have an entire patio attached this way at my camp and lean to done the same way on my barn. Both would likely have a lot more load weight than a pergola.

Should be fine. Might want to make sure it's attached so that the load carried by the exterior wall of the house and not farther up the roof.

If you wanted to go farther up the roof for the additional height, you could attach a beam above the exterior wall to make up the height difference. It would then take all the weight to exterior wall regardless of where the pergola tails met the roof.

Shouldn't be a problem if your pergola beams are supported by load bearing walls.

As long as you frame into the roof above the interior of the house (at the exterior wall or further in) it shouldn't be an issue structurally. Flashing will probably be a pain in the arse and if done improperly will cause your roof to leak.

Pretty sure I've asked you before for a general layout of the pergola to explore different options. Is any of this on paper or just in your head?

If you are attaching to the roof of the house, why not just go with a full on shed style roof? It's not that much more work and you get a better enclosure, should you decide to screen it in or close it up. You do want your support to be at the wall though instead of just slapping a ledger onto the end of your fascia. This is assuming that you are starting at the end of the roof.
