Just ran across these on the internet. Anybody seen one of these in action? I found a used tarpon 130 for a great price and am thinking of this as an option compared to the solo skiff or a pedal craft.

I haven't seen one in person but $2000 for that drive seems like a shite ton of money to me. If you're comparing to Solo Skiffs that'll just about put you in the range of used rigged Solos.

well I can get this used 130 like in my OP for 700$. so I would be about 2700 all in. its 2600 for the slayer propel I really like. just haven't tried a Wilderness yak before
You are right though 2K is pretty high for a trolling motor

I'm sure I'll get downvoted to hell but is this not just a $2000 trolling motor?

Yea $2000 for that drive is insane, I'm a cheap skate though. I don't have that much money tied up in both my kayaks.

It would work if it is a new version of the Tarpon. I had a tarpon as my first kayak and they are great. Difficult and almost impossible to stand up in though.
Skip the Helix Drive and get the Helix Pedal Drive. I have not used the Helix Pedal drive yet but it's $1,100 so plus $700 for the tarpon you are sitting at $1800. Just not sure if the Helix Pedal drive can be completely out of the water when in shallow water like the Slayer Propel can. EDIT-seems it does come up and out of the water. Cool design just wonder how well it would handle a sudden log, cypress knee, or oyster bed.
Maybe I can just sell you my Slayer Propel.....

Oh yea definitely upgrade time. There's a Cuda 14 for $550 in Watson, that's the kind of cheap deals I'm into.
I'm a bang for the buck kind of guy, I have a tough time spending that much on a kayak when I can get into a used Solo or a Gheenoe for similar money.

If you're spending that much, just get a Titan with the transom style motor mount and put a 2.5 on the back.

this is the problem I am looking at. seems foolish. i like the H crafts too. can't find a price

Similar-ish money but not that similar in water crafts. You aren't going to drag a solo or gheenoe from the water and through it in the back of you're truck like you can with a kayak. Also being rotomolded, kayaks can with stand a lot more abuse and oysters shells

$5400 for the hull only, a buddy inquired and they sent him a price list.

If you do it, at least drop it in a Ride135 or something.
No way in hell I could spend that much and not even be able to stand up and fish.

I have never even seen a WS in person. is the ride and the ATAK the only ones stable enough to stand?

You need a good ole American made Gheenoe....and then take me out in it so I can decide if I need one too.

Get a gheenoe. You can find a pretty damn nice used one for $3000.
I'll take you out on mine one day if you need some help making a decision.
