My 22" mower finally died last week. I've got a yard that is a little under an acre. It has a lot of trees so a rider wouldn't really work well. Was looking at the cub cadet 28" wide deck. Gets good reviews. Do any of you have one of these larger walk behinds you recommend?

that's not really big at all. I bought a used Lesco 48" commercial walk behind with a velky for less than $200 5 years ago.

I got mine for $200 but it needed a new Kawasaki motor. Found one used on Ebay for $175 shipped and it was nothing to swap out.

I sell these and this is the second year the 28" has been out. I believe this one has recoil start or battery start. Now this is a residential cut not a commercial unit. So far the 25 I sold people like them over the toro due to caster wheels and push start.

Now for $1,2,99 they have 33".
I sell more of those and it is a timed deck.
It is one of the best cuts due to timed deck will always give you a better cut than an offset deck. Only problem is if the timing gets out of time then your blades can hit each other and damage the blades and spindles. I have only seen it happen once and I sold a lot of these units back to the days of them having the Briggs engine.

I have the cc800 with the 33" deck from cub cadet and have been very pleased with it. Got a really good deal on it from tractor supply.

how did you find it? i need this exact thing.

i have 2.5 acres, but only about 1 acre is grass and its incredibly hilly. i have a POS $200 briggs & stratton that isn't even self-propelled and i literally slide down the hill behind my mower on some of the steeper parts

i'm as cheap as they come, but its taking me more than 2 hours now to mow and its dangerous because i'm not getting any younger.

self-propelled and a wider footprint would be a godsend.

Craigslist. Guy in Walker was selling it. I offered him $50 less than what he wanted and he took it.
Been a great mower with minimal maintenance.

Has the good ole Kawasaki single cylinder FC420V with spin on oil filter.

Stripes will depend on grass.

it does very well. I just replaced all my belts, one spindle and 2 rear tires and a rim. Cost me around $350 for all this but mower runs and cuts like new.

I have a Gravely WAW 34"

WAW stand for Wide area walk. I've had it since 2011 and it's been a beast.

ETA: Not sure this is still available now.

dAmn, the commercial grade? I thought about one but couldn't justify the cost, plus electric clutch, the drive system, weight, etc spooked me.
