What makes the Ethos better than a SBE 2/3 or the M2? Is the only difference the nickel and wood? Since I am buy this gun for the long haul, I would like to make a good decision even if it costs more.

I will use it for everything. Ducks, Trap, and Inland hunting.

I don't think so.

The 28in, 12 Gauge weighs the same as the SBE2.

Too pretty to bring in a blind or anywhere it can get beaten up. For that I would want a synthetic or camo.

I won one at a shoot a couple years back. Really nice gun, but I have no business owning it. I went from a wing master to the Ethos. I'd take it in the blind or wherever, in my opinion guns were meant to be shot.

Progressive Comfort recoil system instead of Comfortech

If I were to buy a gun that I used on duck, I would not want it to have wood on it. That's just me though. I know a ton of people who use old wood O/U and wood pump guns (870 Wingmasters). If you don't mind scuffing it up, then have at it. I just don't like seeing my wood guns abused as much as my synthetic stock guns.

I have the 20 ga Córdoba, 12 gauge Ethos. The Córdoba is far and away my favorite gun of all time. I've had it now for almost 10 years and it has well over 100k rounds through it. That gun will be in my grave with me.

The Ethos is very very light. That can be both a good thing and a bad thing.

I also have a maxus sporting clays and Cynergy. Right now the Cynergy is getting most of the work.

Do you find that the lightweight of the ethos or the SBE for that matter being a reason not to purchase it?

Depends. If you're carrying the gun all day and only shooting a box or two, the light weight is great.

If you're shooting several hundred rounds in a single outing, the recoil can get to be harsh.

Slight hikack. Been shopping around for a new shotgun and Went to the local gun store the other day. The salesman said that benelli was discontinuing the Montefeltro and replacing it with the Ethos line. Any truth in that?

I'm in the market and am looking at both the Ethos & SBEII. I read the recoil system in the Ethos (name escapes me) is not as efficient/comfortable as the ComfortTech.

I am now looking at the Córdoba after CFDoc mentioned it and everyone has nothing but great things to say about it.

I have the SBE2 camo and it's a great duck gun. It takes a beating and keeps on ticking which is what you need a duck gun to do.

Most benellis have a raised rib, the ethos has a flat rib.
