i know a few capts in orange beach, pensacola, and destin that run charters. whenever they cant find fish, they can always find beeliners or what they call mingo snapper.

in all my years fishing louisiana i cant recall catching any at all until a few years ago and then when we caught, it was only a few here and there. anyone know why they have so many over there and we dont have many at all?

anyone have any secret recipes?

Off of 131, I caught my first Queen beeliner. They hang in 400' of water. Really beeliners are a hit and miss. Just have to find a school of them, but they are there.

guesss that xplains it. when we'd fish in over 200 we used really big baits, probably bigger than the beeliners.

think they catch their beeliners over in bama and florida in 100-300 ft.

We have tons of bee-liner. When my family used to have a seafood dock in Venice, boats used to come in with 5,000lbs plus pounds a trip of them.

Probably just have to fish them different than most are.

U dont have to be real deep but we used to find them in cleaner water and they would be all over one rig and nothing for the next dozen.

Because the endangered 20 lb red snapper eat the hook faster. Prolly because there are so damn MANY of them down there.....

I reeled in a handful last year. Like posted above, I was in deeper water when I did so.

4-6 small circle hooks on the reefs, using squid as bait, every drop you will catch at least 2

Deeper water especially around natural bottom so closer to TX and east of the river are more common for beeliners, they will hang around platforms but not as much as RS or vermilions. Since most rec guys fish platforms its not as common to catch one. They are little footballs and fillet up easily

When I worked around platforms for 10+ yrs I can recall only a cpl of times we saw/caught beeliners but go to an artificial reef or natural bottom and they were more common than RS. More hard btm off TX and eastern gulf = more beeliners
