Hoping to try out my "new" Marlin Model 6079 on some.

If I can find some decent see-through scope rings, that is.

Never would have believed how difficult it is to find decent see-though scope rings.

Doesn't really exist.... They are made out of aluminum. Better thing to do is get a 1.5-4 powered scope and mount on a steel base. It's been awhile, but I think Marlin has screws to mount a leupold base on it.

If any of y'all have a young one that wants to do the shooting and needs a place to take them hunting, let me know. We might be able to work something out. My deal is, man/dad/uncle or whatever would walk with the young one as the young one hunts. ONLY 1 GUN! Safety is a must that comes first and the adult must know how to hunt. I have a few areas that hold a lot of rats that might get hunted maybe once a year for them and they are thick. Just outside of New Roads.

I may try, but it is so dry, I don't know if I will waste the time.

FF:

You sir, are a good man. I wish that kind of man existed when I was a kid and starting to hunt. I didn't experience hunting with my dad until I was in my 20s because we never had a spot.

May blessings be upon you and your house.

Thank you.

I'm going Saturday morning. Me and Small Balls are squaring off against my Pops in a squirrel blasting battle royale. We took a beating two years ago something fierce (Jr was tagging along with me). Pops bested us 8 squirrels to 1 squirrel and a coon. (I put him in the honey hole). Last year we came roaring back and smashed him 7-2. This year he's trying to pull the old man card, saying he's shooting a shotgun instead of a .22. That coupled with me having Jr. on the trigger for the first time in his squirrel hunting life means we could be in for a beating. I climbed a river birch tree and put a solo cup in there this morning for Jr. to shoot at. He was 4 out of 20 with an open sited Ruger. We got to get better or we're gonna get kilt

These look like pretty good rings. Only thing is, they are temporarily out of stock.
