Bob Scearce, the Ol Beachcomber

He like a toddy, and put Charlie Hardison on the map.

I used to see him at Old River all the time. And on one occasion he was sober.

I do. Ole Beachcomber. I would ask dad to change the news channel (manually- no remotes back then) to put him on. Wasn't he sponsored by Steinbergs (sp) or some store close to that name? think they had a location downtown by the (now) 13th gate.

i remember watching him when i was a kid.
my dad grew up around the corner from him. when he was a kid, dad and his buddies used to hide in the bushes while bob was loading up for a trip and steal some of his beer. dad said the boat was PACKED with it.

My parents let me stay up to 10:30 to watch the fishing shows. That's when they came on back then.

My grandfather was good friends with him. I'm sure he has a bunch of old pics like this one laying around. I'd love to find them

I was at a camp they were filming at when I was little (6/7) off Hwy 71 in Krotz Springs. Couple guys had missed a deer and they broke out the knives and sliced their coat tails on film.

Could always pick him out of Grand Isle with that cap with the plugs in it.

What a great picture though. He is inside, fishing, and has apparently hooked something. While sitting on an ottoman, near a huge arse hand drawn map and mounted bass. Now that's a quality picture.

Do any of y'all still do this. My dad's crew did it back in the day, but I haven't heard of it in a while. From listening to the campfire tales of my new Arkansas club, they would have no shirts left with tails left if they did that for every miss.
