Looking to pick up a G19, and was wondering who has the best deals in the BR area.

TIA

UPDATE:

Went to Louisiana Gun and Reloading Supply on Jefferson this morning. Out the door price was just under $520. I'd highly recommend them; very helpful and even offered to install my night sights when I get them.

I guess you missed where I said best deal. 590 before tax for a Gen3 G19 is hardly a deal.

I paid $420 for a slightly used gen 3 G19 (had 300 rounds thru it) here in Memphis

I wonder what the profit margin is on a Glock?

I don't think one can save money on a new Glock anywhere. There is a cost and that cost is reciprocal for all suppliers based on what they pay their distributor. The only wild card here is how much of a mark-up do they put on them. Suppliers may vary from 7 to 15%, depending on the volume of guns they move.

7% on $500 cost is only $35 mark-up.
10% on $500 cost is only $50 mark-up.
12% on $500 cost is a mere $62.50 mark-up.
15% on $500 is $75 mark-up.

Point being, is it worth it to save possibly $35 driving yourself nuts all over town trying to find this best deal? It isn't to me, but that's just me. I decide to buy something and buy it then. The more I ponder a purchase, the more unlikely it is I will ever own said product. Just food for thought.

LOL

Seriously though, you're not gonna get a good deal in a new Glock unless you are in law enforcement or fire team. It will vary little in price. Best you can do in new is wait for a tax holiday.

Your best bet is to do what I did and buy used. There are steals out there if you're patient

Join glocktalk or sigforum, browse classifieds, and wait until someone sells a LNIB gen 3 or 4 for 425 or 450.

Get a cop to straw purchase one for you. My buddy, who is a trooper, told me the other week that they can get glocks for like $275

Fwiw, the grips on the Gen 4 glocks suck.

Eta: Or use your money to buy something like a M&P or a PPQ-M2

I have seen Gen3 for $520. Seems like a good price.

Really I'd like to hold both the Gen3 and Gen4 in my hand before deciding which one I want.

I'm not opposed to getting a used gun, but Jiims prices are through the roof.

Anyone had any experience with Hebert guns in Gonzales? Someone I know who has several Glocks has good things to say about that place.

Mark-up wont be much a difference to sweat over. Jim's has a huge selection and would probably be my choice if you're unsure on what exact Glock you want. Won't be a big difference anywhere in town.

ETA: hate to say it, but Hebert's blows. I have had some really bad experiences there. I'd rather spend $30-40 more anywhere else in town just to stay away from there

The best deal on a G19 is an LEM P2000. Pay more, get more.

1. I'm not recommending a straw purchase, but the LEO price on Gen 3's was//has been $398.

2. I'm not partial to the Gen 4's either unless you're gonna add Decal Grips or Talon grips. I know I got criticized for having unmanly skin on my palms, but I recently shot ~900 rounds in two days (in Tom Givens class) and not too long ago shot over 1400 rounds in three days (Thunder Ranch class). I'd have really hated to have used a Gen 4 "rough texture" frame for either class.

3. I know the OP said "in BR." But GunBroker was (before the Christmas rush) about the cheapest you cold find. No sales tax (but you pay about that much in shipping and FFL x-fer fee). I saw several in the $460-475 range back then -- probably have to wait a moonth for the end-of-year rush to subside.

4. Other than looking for a deal on G-Broker, I don't think it'll be easy to find lot of difference among local dealers.

5. CDNN occasionally has police trade-ins, but G19's have really become scarce in that segment (G22's are far more common).

Straw purchase, gift. Tomato, tomoto

The Gen 4 grips do suck. I shot a box of 50 and didn't feel like shooting the gun anymore

look for Gen 3s to be 500 and Gen 4s to be 540 at your local gun store.

if not, ask how much it would be to ship a gun in from an internet retailer or another gunstore.

see what they say. they can go down in price.....offer cash.

my lgs has them for 499 cash/debit, but 600 credit. LINK
if they can go to 500, your lgs can too.
