I read a little something about it before. When he was out stashing his cash all over the place before he ran he was acquainted with a LA couple. When he ran he stayed in GI for a bit, become friendly with some locals who had no idea who he was. One bar owner down there said he always looked up at a camera by the door everytime he walked in but didn't know it did not work.

Just saw that on 60 Minutes too, it was definitely GI, LA. Pretty crazy that guy spent time there, he was one mean mother fricker that I just can't picture fishing or running a chicken neck hand line for crabs in the GI surf.

There is zero doubt that anyone who became a crime boss, manipulated things for his benefit for as long as he did, and able to disappear for 14 years as an FBI Most Wanted without being caught, is one smart cat. I'm just getting a kick out of my image of him running a crab line in the GI Surf.

They showed the camp he rented if you want to look it up, sorry I don't remember the name. It was beachside and yellow though. "Our Dream Home," maybe?...

The Marcello's owned the camp called Riptide. Would love to know the stuff that went down there back in the day.

Here's a story that's always been told in my family, don't know the exact details or if it's even true

There was a well connected mafia guy who had a camp in Lafitte (they called him the butcher or something to that effect), and my moms great uncle was a driver for marcello.. One of his last 'jobs' was to deliver a special someone to this camp for a dinner party.. Turns out the guy was cut up and never seen from again and my mom's great uncle had to use his services elsewhere within the company...

Not sure if anyone has heard of this 'butcher' guy or his camp but this has been told in my family since I was born... He also drove for marcello specifically before this ever happened

I know the Russo's in Abbeville used to hide some mafia guys back in the day at camps in the marsh.

That's what I was thinking. Once you're on LA-1 you don't have anywhere else to go.

Surprised they didn't mention that Bulger was good friends with a Louisiana politician who is now on the Tax Commission
