My everyday air impact is this...

or

LINK

The harbor freight one is great. They both have ~450 ft/lbs. I have not met a bolt they cant break. But you need a good compressor to run these.

I got mine for $225 off Craigslist. Very nice impact when you are away from home.

oh I agree. it's just snap on like to charge a little extra for the stickers sometimes. In my line of work, I see local snap on dealers sales quite a bit and I just wonder what some of these mechanics think when they spend that much. And when they believe the dealer is giving them a "deal"

I can't discount snap on that much and looks like the others are around the same retail price, can discount a little more but down to 150

Well then you bettah blee dat you're gonna wind up with a sorry piece of crap that will give you more frustration than breaking out the old hand tools and going at it like a toy poodle on a stuffed animal.

You're right - I was actually agreeing with you on that point. I should have clarified.

quote:

Assuming it's not damn near welded on there taking it off with a tire iron should work fine.

But that will always work, right? But, you've got a chance. The very place you want the extra assistance would be a big job or a breakdown. If you break them all with the tire iron the cordless impact is going to make the whole tire change a lot less miserable.

For me a corded would be the last choice.

Look dude, I'm not trying to argue this with you. If cordless works for you and your opinion is that its better, by all means please continue using it.

Naw, man. I got the Ingersoll-Rand 1/2" with enough air, it'll take the lugs off the space shuttle.

In this price range, a corded impact from any of the major brands. Milwaukee, dewalt, making, etc... Or go pneumatic but you will need a good air compressor with a decent sized tank.

Sorry I was literally walking out of the office on my last comment. If you want spend the money on any of the snap on, Matco etc... Varieties find me on here. I can get you a discount, that you more than likely wont get through a dealer, unless he is a friend.

Personally, my opinion, for what you are looking for, go corded.

I bought the lug wrench from Walmart that looks like a torque wrench. I have been above to break my lugs free without a problem. It's back by the jacks and jack stands.

I own Milwaukee and that thing has Sheared off bolts. We use them at work and they fricking put out. We beat the hell out of them on valves and they are awesome. So much so I went and bought one. When we take long trips I throw it in the truck for changing tires if need be. The batteries last a long arse time and charge quick.
