IF you could pick any of these places? This is OB related because I'd be looking for great hunting (especially Duck). More of a bass fisherman so it doesn't have to be near the gulf..

I agree. TN already has a good Cajun working there. My childhood friend works there.

That place in Kansas would have great duck hunting nearby. Can't help with fresh water fishing
Missouri too

Why not the other two states?

Your are correct! I would even include Georgia. I lived in Charlotte for 6 years and it's a great place.

Good duck hunting near Browns ferry. Great bass fishing, Lake Guntersville and Wheeler close by.

I'd go with the one in Arkansas I think you could find everything your looking for there. You would also be close to make hunting and fishing trips to Oklahoma and Kansas. Nebraska wouldn't be a bad option also.

nuke 1 in Arkansas
easy choice for ducks and bass fishing

If making this on hunting/fishing only:
1. Those nukes up in NW IL or across river in Iowa. All those are close to the Midwest deer heaven and on the split of the flyways.
2. Grand Gulf. That dot is way off from where it really is. I would rank Port Gibson the top outdoor area in all the Southeast/Texas period. You have more tributaries meeting the Mississippi than just about anywhere. There are OLD family tracts that kill giants, slay ducks, and load up on the white perch annually... and it never gets posted on the interwebz.

Farley is decent. I grew up in Dothan. Compass lake, Lake Eufaula, and several other places to bass fish. I don't think the deer are all that big down there but you have great weather year round.

Id go to Minnesota. The deer hunting is good/great there are you're a few hours drive from Canada.

It looks like you are in the nuclear power business. I live in Minnesota and am very familiar with those two locations. If you can stand the winters, it's a great place to live. It consistently ranks very high nationally in quality of life. Both Monticello and Red Wing are nice cities. Red Wing is very beautiful with a lot of old shops.
Both cities are close to the Mississipppi River which provide nice bass fishing. Of course we're the Land of 10,000 Lakes so numerous lakes and fishing are abundant.
There are good opportunities for duck and geese hunting in the state, but the best areas are in the northwestern part. The highest pheasant population is in the southwestern part of Minnesota. If you REALLY want some great hunting, the Dakotas are fantastic and aren't terribly far away.

Arkansas for duck hunting for sure but if your for bass fishing and all around hunting Texas is the place to be. Texas only loses to Arkansas in Duck hunting and freshwater trout fishing. In Texas you can kill antelope, whitetail, mule deer, Javilenas, Nilgai, better dove and Quail hunting, and coastal fishing. Not to mention all the other things that go along with salt water and gator hunting.
I mean for overall hunting Texas can't be beat. Now for scenery and other things to do there are better places.

Nebraska. Only because I lived there and know the quality of hunting is outstanding. A few hours west of those locations, you're in Muley & Speed Goat range.
Mountain lions had a season last year, but it got the ax in 2015. Probably because they don't have enough information about the population to satisfy the do-gooders and get them to back off--about like the Black Bear in LA. There's also bighorn sheep in the Pine Ridge unit (Northwest corner of NE, upper panhandle region, which is beautiful big country).
A 10-hour drive into the Rockies, you'll run into elk and bear country, but, since elk were introduced on Fort Riley, just outside Manhattan, KS, there have been trail cam pictures circulating as far north as the NE/KS state line. I wouldn't say it's a full-blown takeover or migration, but the range is slowly expanding--very slowly.
A little drive north, you're in South Dakota, which offers excellent Mule Deer and Whitetail hunting, in addition to outstanding pheasant hunting. Iowa's pheasant population has been on the rise, and the whitetails there are awesome as well.
Missouri and Kansas offer great whitetail hunting, as well as upland bird hunting.
Your waterfowl hunting will be excellent in the eastern portion of NE & KS. I'm not sure about the other areas, being that I don't duck hunt.
As for fishing, it's pretty damn good all over the place. Tuttle Creek, just outside Manhattan, stocks the reservoir with Rainbows every spring--at least while I was at K-State they did.
If there were better paying jobs up there, I would have never left. If I hit the Power Ball or have a halfway decent retirement, I'd love to go back. I'd probably live in Kansas to get the resident rates there, just because Nebraska is considerably cheaper for deer permits at $216 for non-residents, and they don't require a hunting license for big game.

Yeah.. Just getting a little talk going for future reference. Of course a decision wouldn't be made solely on the hunting in the area, but I sure as hell can't go to a place that's not worth a damn.
I guess my next question is.. How accessible is the hunting in some of these areas? It's sort of an addon to my OP, but which states afford legit public hunting or easy private land to lease?
