Propane fogger to pretty much kill everything in sight. Then a big powerful fan for the rest.

When the mosquitos get bad around my house I set out my bug zapper with the octenol attractant. I leave that sucker on all night (unless it's gonna rain). Does a pretty good job at keeping the population down. There's usually a pile under the zapper in the morning.

I mounted a squirrel cage blower from a central A/C unit on an axel with wheels and a handle that I can roll around. It has 3 speeds and works great for mosquitos on the 2 lower speeds.

Well, here's the thing:

The Mosquito Magnet deal works as advertised. It kills the mosquitoes in a given area and since mosquitoes don't travel very far from where they are born, boom, no more mosquitoes.

Now, the bad:

Even with proper care, expect to only get 2-3 seasons out of them. Also, you are going through a tank of propane every 21 days, so buy two so you can rotate.

All that said, they are about the same cost as having professional spraying done and they are more effective than that.

So it's basically gonna cost you about $200 per year to eradicate mosquitoes on about 3/4 to 1 acre.

But being able to actually use your backyard is pretty cool.

I have a mosquito magnet and it worked great until my jackass cousin helped me cut my grass and ran over the power cord with a riding mower

You can kill a lot with fogs and contact sprays, but being that you are in the middle of swamp for miles in every direction, more will come. Being in front of a fan is the best bet.
