quote:What law? Do I have to have a drivers license to use a credit card, buy a gun or finance(not drive) a truck. Explain this law
You seem to forget that people/companies have set aside rules prescribed by the law

Is this a serious question?
Since you avoided the question, I feel safe assuming the answer is "a long arse time."

Not trolling at all. Not sure how you could come to that conclusion.
A contrary opinion =/= trolling.
Quit being a sissy.

quote:Actually, I think that's a good question. Unfortunately, none of the folks you're dealing w/ will bother to ponder, much less answer, the question.
Why does a drivers license become ineffective for a photo ID once expired?
quote:Yeah, that little expiration sticker messed me up once, as well. In my case, one corner of the sticker got turned up, stuck to the inside of my wallet and got peeled off the DL and later fell out of the wallet.I first realized the renewal sticker was missing when I drove to pick up an online gun purchase. When I went to the Driver's License Office to get a replacement sticker they said LA had quit using the stickers becaue of so many problems w/ them. I ended up having to buy a whole new DL, even the current was not expired.
I Couldn't purchase a money order using my credit card at a bank because the renewal sticker on the back of my license was not legible.

Let's see, oh yea, once it's expired it's no longer VALID, as required by law.
Posted on 6/30/15 at 10:31 pm to WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot
All purchases that require a photo ID as proof of age require a "valid" and up to date license or ID. This law is forced on the establishment under the licenses they hold to provide different services, which then forces it onto the consumer. It may seen a bit overkill when trying to buy a drink or get into a bar, but the fines they are subjected to receive over the $10.00 profit they get on a bar tab aren't worth losing their liquor license. There are undercover agents that will walk in with expired licenses attempting to see if employees are enforcing the laws.
ETA: Just using the alcohol buying situation as an example, the same can be said for casinos, vehicle inspection tags, and purchasing of a firearm.

Are you a QuietTiger alter?
Posted on 6/30/15 at 11:06 pm to WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot
I'm not anyone's alter... my dad is a small business owner who has had some undercover agents try and pop him, just trying to shed some light on the subject.

Alter check on the OB...
You don't have to shed light on the subject for me...I've served more than a couple of alcoholic beverages...legally and illegally!

I spend entirely too much time on here that if someone with 20k posts has an alter that spends as much time on here as I do, not to mention that they need to recreate themselves as another poster to reiterate their opinions then they need to reevaluate their lives

Blame Bruce Jenner and all transgenders.

I agree with you 007. Me and some buddies went to Atlantic City right around the time Louisiana started using the stickers on the back. I had just got mine. This one bar, the guy wouldn't let me in because "this sticker is bogus, I've never seen a sticker to update a license". It was one of the bars/clubs that everyone really wanted to go to but now because he couldn't simply use it as a photo id, we couldn't. Regardless of the sticker or expiration date it still showed my age. If I wanted to fake anything I don't think I would have created an expired fake.
