Looking for a radio for a bay boat. TIA

I've went through 2 radios in the last year.
On another site, someone told me that a lot salt water people are just installing an amp under the console then using their phone to play their tunes through it. The amp is more protected, and hopefully better sound than just a tuner/cd player.
We seem to use our phone most of the time anyway for source.
I wish I knew more, but plan to call Crutchfield to work out the details.

Big fan of the Kenwoods. They work great and aren't huge amp hogs from what I've seen. My buddy set one up on his sailboat with a remote back in the cockpit. Probably going to put another one down by the swim ladder so you can control it from the water.

What I did in my bass boat, actually had a audio tube I built for my 4 wheeler when we rode alot, hardly used it and wanted tunes in my boat. Disassembled and mounted the speakers out of the way and the amp under the console, just make sure and run an inline switch, the amp I have will draw constant power.

Would we still need a receiver of some sort?
I did not.

Any thoughts on Fusion brand marine radios? They are spoken highly of on the hull truth.
