To degrease or remove gunk I use a brake solvent be careful on some finishes.
Breakfree for cleaning lubing etc after that. There are lots of options but that works for me

a lot of folks will disagree, but I have used WD-40 for decades and never had a single problem with it...

This or after 400-500 rounds which ever comes first.

Except I finally shot my Saker 762 on my AR, it has never been cleaned since I installed a new barrel. Its disgustingly dirty and I only put like 40-50 rounds of xm193 through it.

As far as what I use:
foaming bore cleaner
Breakfree CLP or MPro 7, whichever is in arms reach.
Tetra gun grease on the bolt for the bolt guns.

Hoppe's #9 through the barrel and rem oil for a good wipe down. Hasn't failed me yet but as long as you take the time to clean your weapon from time to time you cant go wrong.

Wd40 or motor oil. Gun oil is a massive ripoff
