Why do y'all prefer black over a camo?

That's some people gripe, but I've had my camo Vinci for 6 years now and there's no fading or chipping anywhere on the gun and it's never carried in a case, cleaned, or babied at all. However, I see a ton of Brownings and Berettas with chipping under the grip and fading all over the gun.

I just like the synthetic black as personal preference aesthetics due to it being simple and clean.

my citori satin hunter is on its 3rd decade of duck hunting without a hiccup

Cause black never goes out of style. Easier to clean than wood and blued guns. Plus I'm just not a big fan of camo guns. New Camo patterns go out and come in every year. Each year some get discontinued. What if you need a new part for your favorite shotgun but that camo pattern isn't available anymore? You're SOL or you can buy the part and have the gun dipped to match. Now you're out another $250. They'll always make black parts. Even better that black guns are generally cheaper

Nice SxS double.

To an earlier question, I only buy wood stock as a matter of personal preference. I like the way it absorbs recoil, and for me a wood stock just has more character in appearance. However, that's just my personal preference.

Do the black guns have protection on the barrel against corrosion? I honestly have never even considered a black gun and thought this was the main reason to go with a camo dipped. I get a lot of salt water on my gun and going without some kind of protection just wasn't an option. I wouldn't have gone black anyway because I prefer the camo.

My best duck gun is also my best dove gun and best quail gun and best turkey gun....a field grade Citori that is about 35 years old....damned thing ain't pretty no more but it'll still reach out and touch someone! I bought a Super Vinci this season and to be honest I think I am too old to have 3 shots....I forget to shoot the third one most of the time! And the damned thing is almost impossible to re-load in a hurry...my Citori opens almost automatically and reaches in my blind bag for shells when it is empty!

SBEII, Super Vinci, A400 extreme, A5, versamax, anything else I left off.

No matter what you buy do yourself a favor and go to a Gander Mountain super gun store and they will have everything available for you to handle....handle them all...it is easy to forget which one shoulders best when you look at one this week and another next week...do them all right in a row...and maybe do it a couple of times with at least a sweat shirt on (never buy a shotgun in a T shirt unless it is a dove gun!) Shotguns are all about the fit and there is a world of difference between manufacturers and models....I have never handled a browning shotgun that didn't feel perfect for me and I have never held a Winchester that felt right at all.

Seriously though...take a look at some over and unders...that third shot is usually wasted anyway and o/u take the abuse of a duck blind much better than any autoloader will....

If I could find one for less than $3K I'd buy a true 3 - 1/2" camo citori...not the synergy (a fine gun no doubt) and not a browning performance shop cam citori but the real McCoy....there ain't a better duck blind shotgun made and if you also hunt timber it is the only gun to have....and it will last FOREVER even if you don't clean it AT ALL for years....try that with any auto loader!

My brother is a grown man and crushes ducks with a 20ga youth 870 express. Same gun he used to win competition sporting clays with. Shoot them in the head and they'll die no matter what you do it with. He just happens to be very good at it.

If you know how to call (or more importantly when not to), know how to set decoys, know how to hide properly and are on the spot a 20 gauge is more than enough gun to kill ducks....if you have to shoot ducks with 3.5" shells you ain't doing something right or you are hunting public exclusively and having to take any shot that comes your way....I only shoot ducks that are cupped up but prefer flusing them out of the dekes (I don't kill many but I ain't in for numbers like I once was) and I still shoot a 12 but I very seldom ever shoot at anything more than 20 yards away with its belly and breast showing....if you get 'em close enough you can kill 'em with a tennis racket!

I recommend to all new hunters to get a pump. Most forgiving, durable and reliable action. O

I agree..also encourages a little thinking between shots...we all know someone who shoots 3 times every time and seldom connects on the first two...that person was introduced to wing shooting with a autoloader...birds are never as fast as they seem....a mili-second taken to work the action and think about what you are doing will make a WORLD of difference in the number of birds hit....

Winchester Model 12. Holds 7 shells. Extremely reliable.

Pre 1965 hands down the best production shot gun ever made...870 Wingmasters are hard to beat but a real Model 12 is the shootingness damned shot gun ever built...I've got one I wouldn't take a $1000 for and it perform flawlessly in the morning and it hasn't left the safe for a duck blind in 10 years....I have shot some skeet with it in that period but that gun is my son's when he wants it....
