What is the best scented bait for specks?

Given the shortage of live bait in Grand Isle, I have started using some berkley gulps. What is the best scented bait for specks and do you fish them a particular way (under a popping cork, bumping on the bottom, etc)?

When fishing artificial for specks I usually start with a cork for a while then move to bumping the bottom. I have never messed with scented lures; usually just stick a chunk of dead shrimp onto the artificial.

I rarely fish with scented bait because I can't stand the smell of it and I always seem to spill that damn bucket that the berkley gulp comes in (but it has worked for me when I've ran out of life bait and had trouble getting bites on other artificial's). Since its supposed to be the closest thing to live bait I usually fish it as if it were life bait, but rattling corks seem to be the best bet due to the noise since it's still artificial, I prefer to give it as much of a life representation as possible. That's just my general opinion, plenty of people have different methods that work, especially considering tides, water depth, current, etc. are what ultimately result in the style of fishing.

I've never messed with the stuff either, but this show I've started watching - Flats Class - those 2 dudes use pro cure bait scents all the time and it seems to work well for them. Mostly fishing out of FL, but always catching some good reds & specks.
Locally most the guys here use Berkley Gulps. That scent is all the same.

Do the Specks and bait fish tear your gulps apart. When I'm fishing with them, they get cut in half. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks to all for the info. I first tried them a couple of weeks ago and we had some success near the rocks of Grand Isle. In fact, I caught more on gulps than one buddy fishing croaker (albiet crappy crockers). We also picked up a couple of reds where we usually only catch specks.
They seemed to last about 3 fish to me and I assume you have to change them when running to a new spot.

Specks no, Spanish Mackerel yes
I never use dead shrimp when fishing for specks, too many hardheads... either I'm using live cocahoes or live shrimp, if I cant get either then I'm using GULP
