What is a "pan trout"?

I have seen a few dining establishments here in MS that advertise serving pan trout...

anyone have any idea exactly what that is?...

Pan trout = whiting = ground mullet

it's that Asian river catfish (not really catfish) that I would not eat. It's the cheapest fish you can buy and they call it pan trout.

Whiting. It can be good when eaten hot. A soak in salty water with milk helps tame the (to some)somewhat strong flavor.
