Tragic story involving Mother Nature and cattle ranching in the Texas Panhandle.
Thought most of you would appreciate this read, especially brother Clyde and other farmers & ranchers

Texas Monthly is a great magazine. We have a subscription to it. They cover stuff like this, whooping cranes, TX music scene, etc.

Well rounded publication.

That is sad man. I carry a lighter with me wherever I go and I don't smoke. Sounds like they didn't even have time to start a fire and follow it.

The Day the Fire Came is one of the most interesting, well written, gut wrenching stories I've ever read. Thanks for posting.

That's such a sad story, and one of the worst ways I can think of to die.

I'll give Cliff's but it's worth reading. Such a sad story.

Cody (20 YO cowboy with a bright future in the business), his gf Sydney (23 year old nurse) and Sloan (Baylor grad from an old cattle family) put their lives in the line to save a herd of heifers and calves from a wildfire, but the wind trapped them.

I read that earlier this week and there were definitely tears shed. Incredibly well-written but such a tough read. The picture of Sloan with his daughter put me right over.
