What am I dealing with here? Goose grass? What's the best thing to get rid of it? The flower beds aren't too bad but it's heavy in a couple spots in the yard. Grass is a mix of St Aug, Centipede, and Bermuda.

It does look like that, and I can deal with that.

I don't want it to grow, not pull 100 of them out every other week.

Too hot to do anything with it now?

I brought in some riversilt, and topseeded, not sure if that's where it came from, that's what I'm assuming. I didn't want to put down preemergent with new seeds.

That's where it came from. Very common on riverbanks. Good duck food for what it's worth

Temp not holding you back, it's catering to St Aug, Centipede, and Bermuda simultaneously.

So yesterday I went and pulled all of the weeds in the flower beds. I thought it was mostly what I posted earlier, being barnyard grass, but it's not.

The left and middle look to be the same, left being what's in the first picture.

The roots run out and connect to other stems and have this little root ball. You can see in the second picture that they are connected.

This was out of one flowerbed, granted it was the worst but I had about 3x this when I finished. So what is this, and being that it's mostly in my flower beds what the best solution.

For the nutsedge inside of a flower bed, let it get 6" tall and apply glyophosphate with a sprayer, glove, or paint brush. Typically, I would only dilute the glyo to 20% for nutsedge. Hold off on watering for a few days prior to application.

In the yard, I am told Sedge hammer is what you need but from what I have read you cant use that grass or the area for any form of edible for the next 3 years.

My biggest issue is my yard isn't very established in some spots, put down some river silt and top seeded, and then put some sod in some other places. I sprayed weedfree zone in the fall and early spring before aerating and spreading the dirt but haven't done anything since. It's about time for another round of fertilizer thinking of putting down the Scott halts I have in the garage with it.

get the grass established well this year, water and fertilize as needed and fix the weeds in the fall with pre emergent and in spring of next year with post emergent.
