I'm with Jim beam dude, rent you a sod cutter for a day and just cut all that shite out. Leave the dirt open to dry the roots out for a couple days then wet that shite good and put some runners down.
By next spring you'll be good to go and only out the cost of sod cutter rental

Interesting idea. My GF has two dogs that are in the back yard pretty often. Would it be better to wait until spring to do this? Or would sprigging it now give enough time to grow in somewhat before dormancy sets in?

Centipede shouldn't have a problem with 2,4-D. St Aug will.
Use southern trimec or Celsius may need 2x with Celsius.

Too late to kill, can really only suppress at this point. Attack it early in spring with WeedFreeZone, SpeedZone, Trimec, etc (broadleaf killer). Once temps warm up and the weed matures, spot treat with Metsulfuron.
Those are all liquids. Also, zoysia isn't quite my area of expertise, so read the labels to ensure turf tolerance.

I've used MSM on the lespedeza with good results.
I've used Celsius on both lespedeza and Virginia buttonweed with good results.
I highly recommend Celsius. It's pricey but kills a lot of varieties of weeds and can be applied in the heat of the summer. One bottle will last a long time.

10 oz bottle?

I have also had luck in the last three weeks with MSM on lespedeza and button weed. Button weed turned red, lesbiandeza turned dead. It did suppress the cetipede a bit, two shots though, .2oz to about 4 gallons of water and a quick pace with 20" +/-band x2.

Yep. Hit my yard with two shots of MSM as well. The higher end of the dosage they recommend. Buttonweed is turning red and is super easy to pull out. Rest of broadleaves are turning as well

That doesn't seem like much but it is very potent. It is a dry concentrate and you only add about .1oz per gallon. I also add a surfactant and a marking dye.
It will last many years.
