I have a Beretta 686 that I love.

Had it for 10 years or so but really don't remember what I gave for it.

Quality built O/Us are made to last multiple life times. Look at a quality used gun. I would start with Beretta...

I suggest a 20 gauge. The older I get the more I appreciate the smaller gauges (lighter, handle better, just as effective) and begin to view the 12 as overkill for most things except ducks and geese.

I was recently shooting 5 stand with a sub gauge. While I was waiting I kept watching the guys shooting 12s just get pounded with recoil for no good reason.

I bought a stoeger .410 sxs a few years ago for $300 brand new.

It's definitely not a "fine english double" but it's still, IMO, a very nice shotgun for the money.

I personally really like the CZ over/unders. They are about $600 IIRC

Citori's, Superposed's, and 101's are a good place to start

Eta: Red Label's are solid too

shite I'm a young buck and am no fan of getting beat up on the back end of a gun for no good reason. My next shotgun will be a 20

I have more 20's than anything else, mainly sxs. I really want a 28, o/u with 30" barrels...

ESPECIALLY dove hunting.

F dove hunting with a 12.

I need a 28 and a 20 to round out owning all the gauges. The golden plan is a 20 wingmaster and 28 benelli or 1100 sporting 28. The 20 will come first

One good thing about the stoeger is it's a heavy SOB and with dove loads would kick like a .22

Wick, what are some solid SXS brands? The older I get the more I appreciate them. Fox, Parker, L.C. Smith, what else?

This comes in a 20, but I bet a 28 will be coming soon...

What is that? Looks expensive...

My old man is eyeing a CZ o/u 12 very hard. Know anything about them?

Not wick, but for the money and variety it is hard to beat a CZ for a new SxS. Multiple gauges and formats plus they build an attractive gun.

The brands you mentioned are legendary, however they have a price tag to match and can be difficult to find in good condition.

There is a small gun company in Connecticut, called Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing Company (CSMC) that makes the following shotguns: Fox, Parker, Winchester Model 21, RBL, A-10 and Inverness. This is the Inverness and that gun is ~5k...

I got my son a 20 with reduced barrel and stock length. It has only been shot once or twice but they get good reviews and it handles well...

Old guns were built to last life times if properly taken care of. I have all of those listed above...

I really like Double gun shop forum for used guns. They are all individuals selling. If you have facebook, Dogs and Doubles This guy points out good looking guns coming up at auctions...

I'm going to have a hard time talking myself into an auto 28 rather than the cz ringneck mini...
