Ok, I have my own ideas, was curious to see what others thought.

Let's say you wanted a collection of various pistols; the usage would be range fun, keepsakes, and just because. Looking at the era between the revolvers and the Glocks; the "real steel" 9mms. Basically the same era as heavy metal bands. Of course, that terminology is somewhat flexible- not every metal frame is steel, and not every representative is/was 9mm (some were 10mm).

Since these aren't currently fashionable and plastic (and many are out of production), the prices on quite a few are reasonable.

What would you put on the list to consider? I'm intending this to be more than just 1 model, so feel free to list more than the first thing that pops in.

I'll start it off with a couple:
Beretta 92FS- our military uses them, and so did Riggs and McClane in Lethal Weapon and Die Hard.
CZ 75- the "forbidden fruit", the gun everyone loved and copied, but couldn't have until after the Iron Curtain fell.

Id get a Browning BDA/Sig P220. This wasnt mine, was Father In Law's. Sold it and the Colt Python because they needed money. Didnt have the cash at the time. Wish I would have.

Browning imported these before Sig was setup in the US. This one also had the mag release on the heel of the pistol. Was a pretty cool piece. I think I shot like 5 rounds through it and put it up. Never shot the Python. They were both in to good of shape.

The Ruger P series was very popular back then, yet rarely seen now (the P85 in particular). The same can be said of the various iterations of Smith & Wesson DA/SA automatics. The Hi-Power is not an 80s/90s era gun, and the Beretta and CZ were rare birds (hard to believe, but true). Glocks were very common from the late 80s on, so there really isn't an in-between time between revolvers and Glocks.

I saw some Rugers at the recent gun show in Gonzales, with Iberville Sheriff's Dept on the slide. They were the roughest guns I've seen in awhile, one looked like it was hit by a tiller or some other heavy, sharp bit of machinery.
Remembering how those guns were, I bet it still shot. I liked the inscription, but the condition was too rough for the price.
Wouldn't mind a clean P85, if the price is right.

I like this class of guns, and have gathered a few (some listed).

The old BDA 380 is the sweetest shooting gun I've ever fired. Beautiful too.

I own a Ruger P90 in stainless that is a great shooter but a bit on the heavy side and wide in the hand.

I also have a S&W 9mm from the 90's that I inherited from my grandfather but haven't gotten to shoot it yet. I have read that it isn't that liked in the firearm community.

ETA: I also have a intratech AB-10 from the 90's not sure if that counts

Any German (or W. German - ) made Sig Classic pistol. Multi-generational guns. Best examples of these would be P226 and P220.

I also like the Smith 4506 - great .45.

Finally, the squeeze cocker pistols from H&K - in particular the original P7.

My Dad has the P89 - Great shooting gun, but heavy and wide like you said.

I just picked up a PT-92 - the Taurus clone fo the Baretta. Its a good shooter as well. Not quite as heavy or as wide as the P89.

Does the Jericho 941 aka Baby Eagle count? Came out in the early 90's IIRC.
