Depends on what motor.

2013-2017 6.7 you're gtg

2011-2012 6.7 - 200k

6.4 - 0

6.0, if bullet proofed - 200k

7.3 - you're gtg

I wouldn't want anything with more than 150,000 miles but would try to find something around the 80k mark. Diesels are costly repairs and some can run upwards of 12k to replace a fuel system on the new 6.7's. Had a buddy just have to replace his fuel system on his 2014 with 110,000 miles on it and Ford quoted him 13k. Also injectors don't last for forever so if you get something with real high miles the injectors could go out with is also a several thousand dollar repair.

How dumb would it be for me to buy a diesel knowing I won't need it for towing anything

How dumb would you feel with a $12k repair bill on a truck you don't need?

That's your answer.

Drive what you want to drive. If you like the look of it then get it but they are not cheap to drive and the repairs can be crazy expensive. I have a 2017 F-250 and haven't pulled the first thing with it. I buy diesels because I'm a vechile guy and like to mod them and play around with them. It's stupid and a waste of money but it has always been a hobby of mine. I also use the truck and need a 4x4 that I can tow with the couple of times I tow every once in a blue moon.

This is the biggest POS Ford/International ever made.

I'll spare you the gory details but $2k repair bills under 100k are common.

2014 does not have the upgraded turbos or upgraded hpfp, but does not have the ceramic 2011/2012 turbo.

I'd buy one in a heartbeat, if the price was right.

Habe a 14 and a 15. 14 has about 100k and runs like a champ. Only issue I had is the fuel pump went out in December. I had gotten some bad fuel in November and think that led to it but IDK. Other than that, runs like a champ and had no issues. My 15 only has 20k and have an extended warranty as well as maintenance plan. Check all service records and make sure it was taken care of. If you like the truck buy it. They are great. 14 stock turbos are much better than the 15-16. The 14 has a great sound stock

Unless you have money to burn its not the best idea.

If you really like the look of the F250 get one with the 6.2 gas motor and never look back.

miles on a diesel tell you when to change the tires. that's about it.

Just spent $199 to change out the drivers side seat belt catch on my 2012 today...

Other than that it has been in for warranty work twice on the emissions system and had a radiator changed. Truck now has 66k miles so hoping those warranty jobs fixed most things

ITs your money but I wouldn't get a diesel unless

1. I was absolutely loaded
Or
2. I pulled heavy loads several times a week.
