I know Costa's lenses are Z87.1 approved, but are the glasses as a whole approved? I have had several pairs, but none had the Z87.1 stamp. If they offer a model that does I would like to get a pair.

UPDATE: a direct answer from Costa below.

I am almost certain they don't make safety glasses. I've been down this road before and even talked to a costa rep about it and never could track down an ANSI approved pair. Granted this was a few years ago so it could have changed since then.

They're dumb.

The pipe fitters and crane riggers would go ballistic behind Z87 costas

That's what I'm thinking. I wear my Costa Brines in the refineries for bid walks and such; no one has ever questioned. They look close enough to safety glasses these days.... But I would like to have 1 pair of glasses that would work both in and out of the construction scene...

I should add that some of the lenses are Z87 compliant, but none of them are stamped which doesn't really do you any good in the field.

This is my problem, I can't be arguing with my safety men about my damn glasses. Sets a bad example.

But, Do just the lenses need to be certified or is it the lenses and frames???

Costa and Oakley do not have plans to stamp their eyewear anytime soon either.

I would look at Edge or Wiley X if you want something for work and play.

Sporting Edge today, not a big fan of them. The Wiley X look pretty cool, thanks for the suggestion!!

You will if you have an eye injury while wearing them.

Hah, I'm not a fan of your Edges either. I like mine way better:

Mine come in blue mirror, smoke, or amber lens. I'll see if I can find them online. Only issue I have is that the lenses scratch somewhat easily so I go through 2 pairs/year. But they're only $30.

Man, I like the Edge glasses but I hate that damn big E on the side. I feel like I need to throw on a smedium Affliction shirt to wear 'em....

Yeah I dont know when they started doing that. Mine say "Edge" but it isn't so obnoxious as the huge E.
