Just saw 8 otters. I'm in deep piney woods territory. Odd.

Only seen a handful of does so far.

About to climb down. Partner saw two does, one too early and one too far.

I would not want to take Buford into the woods. Some jackass might shoot him. You know, some people see movement and go firing away.

He's darling. (Yes, I am female, so I can say that).

Happy Thanksgiving, OB! Made a solo hunt with the wife working a 24-hr shift. 4 greenheads,1 suzie, 1 green wing teal and a big-ole fat Canada goose (sumbitch weighed 13.2 lbs!)

And I'm in OK, so 5 mallards is legal...

Dude that's awesome! How did you set your gear up in that grass?

Thanks, it was a great hunt.

I just hunker down in the grass. I built a small plywood platform that I brought out there to set some stuff on. I use a decoy sled to drag out the decoys. The water is a hair too high to use a marsh seat comfortably so I just stand among the vegetation. For now it's over my head, but once we get a hard freeze it'll fall over and I'll need a different plan. The area I'm hunting is a big flooded bottom off of a river that is covered up in cattails (the grass you see in the photo is cattails) and spotted with pockets of open water.

Nah. It would be a tough go for her. It's a long wade in through water too deep for her to stand. I have a buddy who brings his lab occasionally, but it's a tough hunt for a pup.

In Louisiana;
The daily bag limit on ducks is 6 and may include no more than 4 mallards (no more than 2 of which may be females), 2 canvasback, 1 mottled duck, 1 black duck, 3 wood ducks, 3 scaup, 2 redheads, and 2 pintails.

Daily bag limit on coots is 15.

not sure where you're hunting...

He's in Oklahoma bud. All good

TLC, great hunt man. You kill some great birds up there.

My GWP was itching for some birds all morning but the weather killed the vibe.
