Driving from Monroe to Houston Friday for a wedding and want to bring some deer meat to the gf's family

I won't be bring too much, probably around 10-15 lbs.

I have a yeti cooler for transport. Trip will take me around 5 hours depending on traffic.

My question is this: would a few bags of ice do the trick to keep it frozen, or will I need to look into getting some dry ice for trip?

any thoughts and advice would be great.

I would assume so.

Yeti

Son you could drive to New York, kayak to England, catch a private jet back to Monroe, then ride to Houston on your horse named Friday and no ice would be melted.

honestly, if it thaws while still ice cold, nothing will be wrong by freezing again. ive traveled from natchez, ms to austin, tx with meat in an ice chest with no problems. it will definitely thaw though to answer your question

eta, nvmd i didnt see the yeti part. it wont thaw

They really are. I was a little skeptical when shopping for a new cooler. It is still overpriced, but worth it for people who use them day in and day out like I do.

Ice doesn't melt in Yetis. It is created. All you need to do is throw a few cubes in for seed before you leave. By the time you get there, you'll have an ice chest full.

That's a lot to make up for a not so subtle Yeti brag thread

Dump a container of salt on the ice and it will make the ice chest colder than 32F and actually freeze liquid items.
