Timing belts are one thing you should be very religious about changing per the owners manual. If the belt breaks the valves drop and the engine will eat itself. DO NOT IGNORE TIMING BELT CHANGES

All of this.

You can get a whole kit online for the 4.7. It comes with everything that should be replaced. I did one about 6 months ago, and it took around 8 hours. Not hard, just a lot of shite to take off

Everyone had a first time.

The sense of accomplishment after your first real automotive project is comparable to the first sexy piece you ever got.

Not the first time, but the first time you got one you really wanted.

I did an engine swap with zero mechanical experience. 19 hours removal time. 30 ziploc baggies and two pages of handwritten directions.

6 hours to reinstall.

I could probably do it in four now.

Learn by doing.

If not, the job is 600ish.

I'm sure I have the tools for this, but I've literally never changed the oil myself.

Timing belt/chain replacements are a necessary evil. I'm sad to admit that I lost one on my first car. Engine was shot to shite and I basically gave the car away.

That was the first time I'd ever heard of a timing chain
