Torsion bar/key leveling 2500 HD good or bad

i want to level my 2500 gmc. Rough country and several other sites sell a leveling "key" kit. I also read you can crank in the stock keys on the adjustment bolt. I'd like to keep the current feel and don't want to wear out my front end components. What say the OB?

I had a ready lift kit like that installed on a 2008 2500 I had. I didn't notice anything negative about it but i also didn't keep the truck but about a two years after i had it done. I was rolling 285/75R16 good year duratrac tires. Here is a pic of the truck.

This is what I did on my 05 HD ... worked fine the ride stiffened up some but nothing major. I also did not crank them all the way. I did about an 1.5" and still had a little rake left in the front end that would level out perfect with towing or had the bed loaded.

Crank the stock stuff. IIRC, the only thing they keys do is allow you to over-crank everything.
Your ride won't be the same, but it isn't bad when leveled. Nobody can tell you how much to turn the bolts. Use a measuring tape on the fenders

I see that some kits come with shock extenders or new, longer shocks. I'm assuming this may soften the ride back out.

Make sure you bounce the front between cranks, and get a front end alignment afterwards.

I mean, it's just like putting new shocks on a regular truck. I put new ones on my truck when I bought it at 100k because the stock ones were worn out. Cranked the bars a few thousand after that. You don't NEED them
Jack the truck up to tighten the bolts

I purchased the level kit. My truck rode terrible afterwards. I had people laugh at how bad of a ride it was when they were in shotgun.

I doubt new shocks/longer shocks would smooth it out, your cranking the bars up is stiffening the spring. I turned my 94 and 04 up but did not max either out on the adjustment. Both rode fine a little stiffer which is ok with me. 1/2 tons.

You don't need longer shocks. It just sits higher because it torques the torsion bars which pushes down the lower control arms

I could install those keys in about 45 minutes in highschool. Don't do it. Don't do it. Don't do it.
