300wm as someone who owns a wsm tikka. WM is more available and cheaper than wsm and the only reason to go wsm is for short actions but Tikka's are all long action guns.

Yea I have a 270wsm so I'm familiar with the special wsm ammo. But my OCD was liking the idea of a big brother...and it being short action. Didn't realize all t3s are long action.

I guess in that case a forester 300wm would be what I'd get. Would make for a great excuse to get a POF p300 (300wm in AR10 frame) when they come out.

For anyone worried, Eurooptic is 100% legit. No worries ordering from there.

have really been wanting a 6.5 creedmoor, but can't justify the cost to rebarrel. I'm guessing that 6.5x55 isn't an acceptable substitute.

Its a long action cartridge that should have better ballistics than 6.5 creed. However, it will have a shorter barrel life.

Not a big deal on a hunting rifle.

FWIW, patriot valley arms is making tikka t3 or prefit barrels. For those wanting to get into long range or just some good bolt gun shooting. Get one of these, buy a new chassis of your choice, and get a prefit and you'll have an awesome rifle that you can assemble.

6.5x55 can easily compete with the credemore in European factory loads. American loads from federal/Remington are more pedestrian for the old rifles.

Anyone think the t3x is worth the extra $ over this sale?

I would think there would be practically no difference in the barrel life of a 6.5 Creed and 6.5 Swede, given similar ballistics. Tikka probably is doing a 1 in 8 twist for both.

He was probably thinking 6.5x284 which is a notorious barrel burner

I guess I was assuming someone would reload and get the most out of it. No reason to get one unless its the only option with the anemic factory loads.

But you are correct.

I still can't decide on a caliber. Anyone pick up the SS laminated? I really like it but it's only available in 243, 270, 270 WSM or 30-06. I was possibly wanting a 25-06 or 300 Win mag but I guess you really can't go wrong with a 30-06
