I've been shooting this gun for years and love it. I've killed countless deer with it and it holds some sentimental value to it as my grandfather gave it to me when I was a kid. I'm gonna hold on to it most likely but I'm thinking about getting a new gun.

My question is, how well do Rugers typically hold up past the 10-15 year mark?

Just getting good and broke in, still has a few hundred years left in it

But any excuse is a good excuse to buy a new gun

Never ever sell that gun, and if you can, never sell any gun, I have only sold one gun in my lifetime and I wish I could buy it back

I'd never sell any gun unless my family's wellbeing depended on me selling a gun. And one I definitely wouldn't sell would be one my pawpaw gave me.
Ain't nothing wrong with a .270, maybe try to deal with it while you save up some coin for a new rifle.
That's what I'd do anyway.

I'll give you tree fiddy

Should hold up wonderfully. My dad has a M77 .270 that he got as a wedding present in 1987 and it still looks like brand new. Guns will last multiple lifetimes if they are well taken care of.

I've got two (30-06 & .338) that are at least 30 years old and work just fine. These are the original M77's not the MKII's.

I had an MKII and liked it, but it was stolen by some piece of shite. Saved my money up from cutting yards when I was 15 to upgrade from by youth .243 model 7.

That sucks. I hate a thief but a gun thief deserves a special kind of hell. My Dad and I had sixteen stolen when I was younger.

I have a 77 in 7mm mag. for over twenty five years and it's still a great rifle.

I got mine while on a hunt for a second time when a Remington 7400 I had gave me problems and I borrowed a Ruger with a Manlicher stock in .22-250 and killed a nice buck with it. The next time I have the 7400 issues I drove down the road to Sandy Hook MS and bought my Ruger. Never looked back and got rid of that 7400.
A friend of mine I hunted with meanwhile went through five different rifles including a fancy Sako and still couldn't kill what I killed with my 77. Lol...... In fact I only missed twice with that rifle. Once was shooting left handed and I'm right handed.

Got a .270 MKII that my dad gave me many moons ago when I started deer hunting. It's what I still use.

Rugers are built like vault doors. I've only had one that wouldn't shoot and it was in 7mag. Have two RSI models with the manlicher stocks, 308 and 7/08, my favorite guns. I've had more Remington's that wouldn't shoot than that one Ruger.
That 270 will outlive you.
