Man it is incredible how fast that shite happens.

To me wearing a life jacket and a kill switch while underway is like wearing a seat belt in the car. It's just dumb not to do it. Glad to see these guys were okay.

Thanks for sharing. A great reminder and look at how quick the crap can hit the fan...

Pay attention out there and know what to do when operating a boat.

several boats passed them up as well

Kill switch's, life jackets, and safety harness when hunting should be mandatory state laws

someone in a high school or college tournament is gonna die. Those kids should have speeding limits.

That spin out was in a skeeter boat. Most people I fish with don't wear a kill switch. I usually don't wear a life jacket either. Video makes me question if I'm an idiot

I admit I don't attach my kill switch every time; I will now.

Leave your life jacket hooked to the switch all day. Take it off to fish put it on to drive. It's easy

This. Although ive been guilty of not putting it on when running from one spot to another. Had almost the exact same thing happen to me once like in the video but luckily I wasn't going as fast so the G force wasn't enough to throw me out

Can any experts explain why that "spin out" happened?

crossed a wake at a high speed and to shallow of an angle and the front of the boat caught water and dug in and caused the boat to take a sharp turn.

Had that happen to me coming out of Pigeon at the landing. Made the left hand turn at speed a little to sharp and my boat dug and damn neat threw me out. Can't remember if I had the kill switch hooked up (I usually don't) but I always wear my jacket in the spillway.

a coworkers nephew is on the auburn bass team. he said they were at the same tournament as this one and the florida boys were really shook up after that. he mentioned that one of the guys had a manual inflated vest but couldn't get it to engage because he was knocked out. the other guy had to save him.

Thats why I make pretty much every turn with the trim all the way down. Hell, to be honest, I stayed trimmed down pretty much the entire time no matter what. The 10mph I lose cost me maybe a minute to each fishing spot. I have a kid now, I can wait that extra minute

The comments say it was a mechanical failure... more specifically that the steering cable broke. Not sure if that's what happened, but that is what is being said.

Or they could have taken a more direct line toward the bank and not stayed in the trough of the wake.

Trimming the motor when turning at speed helps greatly as well.

Most people just buy these big bass boats and have no real experience and think since they are in a large boat they can do just about anything.

He was trimmed too high trying to cross the wake and his prop lost bite. Once the prop lets go the hull will bite whichever way it lands. Always trim down when crossing someone's wake at an angle like that. Always.

Had that happen to me in my less experienced days but luckily I wasn't thrown. Learned quick to trim down and stop hanging my pecker off the side the boat to show people how big it was.
