What do you think this means?

That the age of the deer occupying a given area will basically self-regulate itself and maintain a given age ratio. I guess that's the best way to put it.

Barring any outlandish behavior such as shooting every single young deer you see of course.

Plot the number of deer occupying each age range and you will get a bell curve. Do that every year and it will look roughly the same.

On every piece of property? No matter what the hunters decide re: harvest restrictions?

Bell? So middle aged deer just appear?

No. The deer can move to other areas. You're not taking that into account.

And of course you can modify it slightly by what you do and do not shoot, you're not going to grossly affect it though unless your deer are isolated.

Bell curve is not right. It's a decaying graph thing.

Then those two graphs change in opposite directions?

This is the part I don't believe, like at all.

Makes more sense.

Whoa! A whole $300?!?!?

But seriously no you are not entitled to that. Unless everyone at your camp is in agreement then you are but that amount of money for a deer lease in today's market entitles you to very little. Especially when you add up the costs of managing the property and feeding the deer and maintaining the herd.

Y'all make my head hurt. Having to think so much about what I should or shouldn't shoot? I think I'd rather go fishing.

It was kind of a joke, but I hunt with a bunch of guys that are actually "deer" hunters.

We have 2000 acres with about 20 guys and I have never heard even one guy complain about what another man shoots.

It's a rarity these days to get a bunch of men together that don't bitch about what each other shoots.

But to me, it's fun as hell. Isn't that what it's supposed to be about? Or has it really turned into a huge dick measuring contest?

It's a dick measuring contest.

Hunting shows have standardized what is considered a "big" buck and has IMO completely fricked up deer huntig

Funny since 95% of hunting shows are on places unobtainable to the majority of hunters.

That's the thing. Half the country would laugh at the deer I killed this evening because compared to what bill Jordan kills its a baby.
