The purpose is to get a new gun lol. I have a browning BPS that I use with buckshot and know that will work. I could get it done with my STI 10MM but don't feel comfortable enough from that distance.

The ultimate close range setup is a marlin guide gun .45-70 with a 2-7x32 scope. A 336 in .30-30 with the same scope is 2nd.

Open sights are cool and definitely get a skinner peep if you're bent on going that route. A scope is far better than any open sight in low light though and you'd be amazed how quick you can get on target with a 2x scope.

I would be perplexed on how to kill a deer over a pile of corn at 90 feet I would say crossbow but hell thats unethical recurve or compound would be best!

My brother has my bow and he's 8 hrs away so that's out of the question. Plus I'm about 100 yards from the fence line and don't want to risk a bow shot deer going into the neighboring property.

The 35Rem doesn't put out Whelen numbers but it's not far off from a 250gr bullet out of a 45-70.

Marlin 336 is the only answer. Wonderful lever action, large buckhorn sites, accurate, perfect size, goes boom quite well!

Marlin 336 in 30-30 stainless is what I'm leaning towards.

I have see through rings on mine. I'll use open sights for close up or when I need a fast shot, and I have a 3-9x32 POS scope on it for longer stuff
