I have a Blue Lacy, she mind me better than a kid but she will get in trouble if I am not around but that's any dog. She is super smart and will protect the family if need be. She is not aggressive to other dogs but she likes to chase them. I have never seen her fight, if the other dog stands up to her she will just turns around.

Mine doesn't shed and don't stink like a dog. She will come inside and you won't know she is there.

Another good all around breed is the Ladner BMC, my male dog is somethign else, he is just like her but he does rule the the area and no other dog better come in the yard. He has never tried to bite a person though.

You are a wise man. However, you gotta make the best out of the situation. Tell her if she dresses up in something blue and lacy, you'll maybe change your mind.

Looks like we are calling on an Aussie. We'll see. Do they shed worst than a golden retriever?

I'm team blue lacy.

Without my buddies blue lacy I would have NEVER found this deer so I'm pretty partial to them. I put a great shot on him and he only went 50 yards but never bled a drop. We looked for over an hour on our hands and knees and she found him in less than 3 minutes.

I don't think we have quite enough room for a lacy. Plus the wife usually wins these things.

Texas Blue Lacys are incredible dogs. We have had one for about 8-9 years now. Every one of our friends and family loves her. She was the runt of the litter and only weighs about 35 lbs. Body like a greyhound and runs circles around other dogs. She certainly sheds but we never brush her and its not nearly as bad as my buddies retriever or the aussie my parents had growing up.

I have a six year old Australian, she is extremely obedient and loyal. It can be frustrating when people come over because she sounds like she is ready to kill until I can heel her but I like the idea of a dog protecting her home. As far as shedding, we shave her and it is not anything close to a lab or other shorthair dog.

I've owned a Lacy .... Mine was high strung and needed lots of yard to run around

They need to exercise and are bred from a working dog background

I would buy another , but these dogs aren't meant to be an inside lapdog

True blue lacys

These people do not want you to buy a Blue Lacy as a pet.

Adding a picture of my dog because I didn't have up to date pic for my last post; Maggie-6yo Aussie. I like how she looks shaved, shedding is better, and she is cooler for summer months in SELA.

Is shaving it a pretty good idea with all this humid heat? I read where your not supposed to shave them. I'm assuming they weren't referring to the humidity that we have down here.

I haven't noticed any issues the past 5 years. Her hair grows back in a few months then she gets shaved again.

we had an Australian Shepherd for several years. That was the stupidest dog I have ever seen. I think she was kicked in the head by a horse when she was young. Very lovable dog though, always wanted to be petted.

We had Australian shepherds when I was a kid, they were cool dogs but had one bitch that was mean. They were the blue/grey colored dogs. I wouldn't mind having another one once my lab is gone.

One concern of mine would be heart worms. The herding breeds can't take much ivomec(heartguard). Do the other preventatives available now protect these breeds sufficiently?
I'd never heard of a blue lacy prior to this thread.
