On those who love it, that is.

Was in a weird spot earlier this year. Sold our house and trying to build another. The election and the negative impact the results potentially have on my family. A small son at home and wanting to spend as much time as possible with him. I was emotionally not in it and it had me in a "bad" spot. I don't know if I was depressed so much as I was out of sorts.

Tonight I just put my baby to bed. I have one buck at the taxidermist and another fresh skull mount on "the wall of hoist" in my shop. I have spent more time hunting with my dad this year then I have in the past 8 combined and he is laying them down. Told me tonight that our week in Texas was the best time he has ever had hunting. I'm drinking a makers and water and (maybe) gonna pull the ole lady to bed for some "get you some" later. Just checked the weather and winds gonna be perfect for the ole "jaw breaker" in the morning. Plenty of time to knock his arse down and get back for a big gumbo, couple o beers and a Christmas tree decorating.

Long story short, I bought some lottery tics earlier and was planning what I was gonna do with all my new money. Then I realized, WTF more do I need?! Life is good boys. Life is good.

It's funny how....just like an old John Denver song....

A set in a duck blind or deer stand or a walk with a brace of bird dogs....no matter what the problem is.....it goes a little further back....

Kinda like that ole Jerry reed song says.....

Best part is that me and "papa" took that baby on his first trip to the woods to put corn on the "jaw breaker" Wednesday. The stars are aligned!! If I can just get the IST started in the morning it'll be a sure thing!

Well, since you asked....

For me, being in the outdoors is a gift from God. He allows us to experience his creation and when I'm out there I feel closer to Him. I relish the time I am out there and I am grateful for it.

Me and my family have had our issues, and this world had it's issues, but ultimately I know God is in control of it and I'm cool with that.

Thanks for sharing.

Oh crap. Fantacy is over. Got to bed and wife is pressuring me to cut the beard. Knew it was too good to be true. Duck dynasty came up.

It was fun while it lasted. Maybe use the beard as "leverage" for tonight.

Indeed.

Thanks for posting this. I needed to read it. All my 1st world problems had me flustered until I just realized that everything is just fine.

The thing I love about the woods is removing myself from the fast-paced, socially-driven, stressful city lifestyle. It's nice to just relax for a few hours without a care in the world.

Oh, and it's nice to talk to the OB in the stand...

Looks like the beard will get a reprieve til after hunting season! All adult time, however, will require a nice bote of wine. I'm happy with that.
