Not familiar with those folks but I known Pipkin outfitters got some stuck up guides that give off that "we are better than you and any other outfit" attitude the whole time your there.

Hunted on the same piece of property as those guys this weekend. I did not hunt with them but we were about 500 yds away. Did fairly decent. Lots of birds down there right now. Especially lots of geese.

i grew up hunting Jefferson and Chambers counties, and 20 years ago i guided for a few seasons right outside of Winnie (our camp was on the north side of FM 1410...you can see it from I-10) for a few seasons...pretty much manage to pay for my tuition at LSU doing that. Brian was running hunts back then and was a good hunter; i imagine that's still true all these years later.

Grayson Pipkin is a good guy, too...that ranch/marsh has been producing good hunts for decades.

Hunted with them the second to last day of the season last year for a bachelor party. Had Shane as a guide and he was great! Very entertaining and good hunter. I have never seen so many pintails in my life as we saw that day and we ended up with a real nice late season bag.

I would like to hear more reviews about these guys as well. Not bad on pricing and just browsing through their picture gallery is pretty amazing!

Hunt with Brian a bunch. One of the best outfitters on the Eastside with good properties and great guides. I also used to guide over here having run parties for Fin and Fowl Outfitters before the Eastside went to shite about 10 years ago. However, the Eastside is back with lots of areas in rice again.

I have recommended this outfit to numerous people on here including Larry Gooseman who will confirm that Drake is legit.

Who is Rian? Do you mean Brian? Maybe Brian Davenport? That is who I worked for. Tony mainly did his own thing. I still see Tony some when I hunt the marsh. He leases a bling down there.

I imagine we probably crossed paths at Lercy's at some point.

Did very well with them during Teal season, big duck season has been a little more of a struggle on the 3-4 hunts I did with them.

Their minimum group size is 4. You will get put into better blinds if you have 6 people from what I understand.

Overall positive experience. Their guides are good old baws.

We have a group of 4. We'd really like to stay in La to save on licenses, but I haven't found anything decent that isn't booked up. Any recommendations?

Search the thread I posted about Louisiana East Zone outfitters. I got some good recommendations there.

MWP is the man! Has referred to several solid outfits. Going to Wharton on Friday for a work hunt.

How is the speck hunting down there? Do they do any duck/goose combo hunts, or just hunt whatever birds are working in the area?

They shoot a lot of geese out of the duck blinds. If you luck out on weather conditions it can be incredible - I was told they've shot over 40 geese out of a blind in optimal weather conditions.

I hunted with them the Monday of Thanksgiving week, one of the other duck blinds limited on Specks. We saw a ton of birds, it was a blue bird day and we still had about a half-dozen shot opportunities at geese.

Rian Glascock...he and Tony started Fin & Fowl a while back, their camp used to be right off the south end of Oak Island Rd. thought that was maybe when you were running hunts for them. Rian still hunts, but mostly the south side of the county off 1985/Whites Ranch Road. i hunted out of Billy DeVillier's camp with Tim Young, Blaine Freiermood (after he got his guns back) and Mickey. ran a few hunts for Forrest when he needed help and i was freed up, too.

no doubt we came across each other at some point...good chance it was Lercy's or the bar at Al-T's. used to pay the light bill at both those places.

after i quit chartering hunts, i had a couple of fields off 1663 and off 62 south of 10 that i leased...then it all dried up on the east side when they stopped planting (as you rightly said). i haven't hunted the area in years...still know it like the back of my hand, though, and still get that feeling in my loins when i pass Jenkins traveling 10. lol...

Ok, that was before my time with them and damn those are names you brought up. I started hunting with them around 96. It was right before Will left to start CFO. I used to hunt with Forrest some back then too so maybe we have crossed paths. I still do some stuff with Jim West from time to time but for ducks, I pretty much just stick with Drake (Brian) and Dee/Justin Leggett down at East Bay.

yeah...none of them run hunts anymore except Bobby Campbell (at least last i heard). Tim runs an operation outside of Gatesville for deer when he's not on the water...Mickey and Blaine still fish, though (and Mickey on the radio).

it was a zoo around there to say the least, especially when Donnie (TPWD) would come by. the level of grabass around there was unmatched in the history of ever. like a bunch of 20 and 30 and 40 year old kids...nonstop joking and pranking.

those years guiding were the best and most fun time of my life.
