I have a new found obsession with duck hunting, but I accepted a job in Houston beginning this summer after I finish my masters degree. I know with the drought, duck hunting has been pretty crappy in SW LA but is there any good duck hunting in Texas most years? As far as the outdoors goes, it has taken me 22 years to realize how awesome the hunting/fishing opportunities are here in LA...truly Sportsman's Paradise

I know a few guys that duck hunt at a WMA near Houston. They seem to do well.

Is this not the outdoor board or has an admin already moved this?

The eagle lake area has some really good duck hunting. The goose hunting around eagle lake is world class too.

It got moved, no harm. I just though originally you wanted to have some sh*t to talk to Oregon fans about the football game in Texas

I hunt on a lease that despite the name has most of its property near Palacios - might be a couple of hours from downtown Houston. It's well run, and since we have water and done pretty well all season on dove, ducks, geese and a fair number of cranes.

JohnnyT,

The link is broken but I was able to google the club. It sounds like a good set up, any idea on the # of hunters total? Any info on how this "invition" process works?

Man I'll tell you, all around the Katy area is great hunting, especially geese! Not sure how much the drought has affected that area, but we used to hunt around there every year and did great.

Anahuac area rivers are pretty good.
Down around Padre Island used to be big for Redheads and Cans.

West of Houston is big for Sandhills and Geese.
