stretched hydes look better in a big long frame IMHO

they are just more impresive.

and thats fairly easy to DIY

About 10x more expensive than making a belt out of the hide, and half as cool in my opinion.

But seriously, I know a guy in Kansas that had one mounted for around $250. Not sure about local prices, but I'd guess 250-350

Any suggestions on where to go to get a belt made? i have a skin from a rattlesnake I killed last year in my freezer.

Go buy a cheap leather belt at WalMarks. Google "tanning rattlesnake hide." Follow instructions. Purchase some glue used for shoe repair (leather glue, can't recall the name). Trim tanned hide and glue on belt. Finish off with a Copenhagen, Red Man, Marlboro, Rebel Flag, or Ol Charter belt buckle from Ebay. Get ready for women to start taking your pants off.

Thanks, I might give it a try as the skin is just wasting away in the freezer.

Have you tried calling a taxidermist and asking the same question? Now I'm curious how much it really does cost.

Sister actually knows someone pretty good so I am going to wait to hear what she tells me.

She actually said it cannot be more than 500
