Tatula CT vs CT Type R

I have an original Tatula 100 I bought last year and have it on a Garcia 7' MH Vendetta rod. I don't do enough fishing to justify spending more than $200-$250 or so on a rig. I got a deal on them and they have worked great for a do-it all rod and reel.
Last night though, I just bought Daiwa Tatula CT for $89 and a Garcia Veritas 2.0 7' MH for $60. I think thats a hell of a deal. I was going to get a CT Type R, but I couldn't find a significant difference in the two, especially for the extra $30 or $40.
Will I regret not getting the CT Type R? I heard the only basic difference is a lighter spool. Also how is that Veritas 2.0 rod?
