Tall Pine Trees and Lightning

I recently moved to a house that has several large pine trees in the front and back yard, a couple of them in the backyard are just about 3 yards away from the bricked side of the house and a few feet away from the back patio. How concerned should I be if one of them were to be struck by lightning?
TIA

I would be more concerned with them breaking off and falling on the home...

In the event of a strike?

Strong winds snap those thing like tooth pics, the the entire upper portion crushes the house. Much more likely tot happen than the lightning strike.

true, but it does take a hell of a wind to do that...basically tornado-strength winds...
I think the main concern would be individual limbs falling and damaging roof, etc.
I honestly wouldn't worry at all about that situation...

I don't know bub. Had a shite ton of snapped pines on the north shore after katrina. I'm talking some fairly large trees at least 3 to 4 foot in diameter.

heck with a bunch of pine needles on a roof,, heck with a pine tree, heck with any brand within distance of house damage.
heck, just heck.
insurance adjusters are the debil.

Straight line winds will do it, I see it fairly often...

Just the common microburst will easily do it.

My uncle had 3 large pine trees in his front yard. 2 were struck by lightening in my lifetime. One was struck twice. Always had big branches fall during extreme wind events.
That being said, bugs hate them....

Cut them down, protect your house.....use for firewood and keep the family warm for the winter.

I'm not worried about wind snapping these they appear strong, I was just concerned with lightning and affect on house if they got struck so close to the house.

this.
On a side note, yesterday I was masturbating in my kitchen and one of the electrical outlets made a loud "POP" at the same instant was a crack of lightning/thunder. Gave me a pretty good start. Went around checking my sensitive electronics expecting the worst but everything was okay.
Don't know why the outlet made the popping noise but obviously something to do with the lightning.

Be prepared for your insurance company sending you a "mandatory recommendation" in the mail telling you to cut them down.

My old football coach had a group of pine trees close to the house get struck, burnt his house down.
ETA: Coach rebuilt the house only to have it wiped out by Katrina, felt bad for the guy and his fam.

the real quesion is, did you check the house immediately, or did you finish masturbating and then look around to see if the house was on fire?...

I'd rather not get that personal on a public forum.

It's a rent house and it's right next door to the landlord who is 80+ years old.
