2016 Sierra SLT here. With the 8 speed transmission it is no dog. I leveled it and put some 33x12.50 trail grapplers on it and still get over 18mpg. My only complaint is that the transmission sometimes shifts funny. Everything else is great. Oh... and if you are buying GMC check out Laura Buick GMC online. I have bought trucks and my wife's Yukon from them. No hassle, price on net is what you pay and no one locally can match it. At least use them as your benchmark for bottom line prices.

Good info there. I've run across a couple of their listings already

Ive been a lifelong Toyota guy, owned a Tundra since they came out. I let a salesman talk me into buying a 2015 Chevy High Country a few years ago. It is a very nice truck, but comparing the towing power between it and my 2013 Tundra is like comparing apples to oranges. Chevy/GMC make nice trucks, their interiors are second to none. If you are looking for a truck to work in, Tundra is where its at.

The heated/ac seats
I love the A/C seats after fishing but the most underrated feature is the heated seat backs. I have a shitty back and I use the heated seatbacks a lot!!!

no reason for me to consider anything else, i have a '96 chevy 1500 silverado with a 5.7L vortec with 248K miles on original engine and tranny, garage kept, regular service every 3000 miles, does not burn a drop of oil, no leaks and gets 24 mpg on the highway...
getting a new one for company vehicle soon, just hope the new ones run like "the big devil"...

I had a '96 Z71 with a 350 and it would easily get around 20mpg going to school and back.
There's no reason that we don't have a 30mpg gas burner V8 on the market right now, other than the consumers are too dumb to buy anything other than hp numbers.

Not that this would necessarily bring the mpg up to 30, but I think GM would be smart to bring back their 4.8L motor and put a blower of some type on it. Ford has the ecoboost with a large displacement V6 and I think Chevy could do the same thing with a small displacement V8 since that's their bread and butter.
I doubt we ever see it but I bet it would sell like hot cakes.

Talk me out of getting a Chevy/GMC
At the bail out decision, I made a choice that it was time for (me) to not only talk the talk, but, to walk the walk. I decided for (me) that I would never buy, look at, or consider another obammer auto. If one of these days, all companies go out of business, except GM, I'll be in trouble,, but, till then, it's a nope for me, don't care how "good" they are. JMO.

GM screwed the American taxpayers, that's reason enough for me to never drive another after the POS '08 I'm driving dies.

the issue of improved or high gas mileage engines is unfortunately a behind closed door hand shake agreement between auto manufacturers and gasoline producers, produce a mpg product that just "satisfies" the customer and sell more gas is a win-win for them, they profit and consumer loses...

You sure it wasn't the Feds that screwed the american taxpayers, and not GM?
I've got no problem with a company trying to do what they think is beneficial for their company. it's up to the government to tell them to take a hike.

I bought my 2016 Sierra 2500 SLT from Everett GMC in Little Rock after not being able to find anything locally. Saved 6k by making that trip. Check Everett and Laura's website weekly as their prices constantly change. My local dealer had six 2500's on the lot while Everett had 150. Pure volume dealership.

Go for the 6.2, the 5.3 felt a bit sluggish when I test drove.

So did everyone on Wall St...you still have a 401, mortgage, credit cards? Thought so

I do. But, I don't have a chevy that I would have paid twice for,, each to his own.
