Recently bought a 17' 4WD 5.3ltr Silverado LTZ.
Absolurely love the ride, the mpg (if you keep your foot out of it), looks...everything.
Rolling on factory 20's and still pull down 19 city, 22/23 hwy which is better than my old v6 Tacoma.

They're definitely shinier.

I had a 09 Yukon that rode great but consumed a lot of oil, but that's my only real GM reference.

but I do know some people have issues with the AFM, but you can buy a range delete device and do away with the AFM if you so choose
The DOD (displacement on demand) system (or active fuel management) is the main reason for the ills of the oil consumption and other small problems with the 4th gen LS motors. The new 5th gen Chevy small blocks are considered their LT motors and have direct injection and variable valve timing whereas the 4th gen did not. I'm unaware of any oil consumption issues or DOD issues with them.
I have the L94 (6.2L 4th gen LS) in my 2010 Yukon Denali and love it. The thing is a beast and will run with an Ecoboost but without the turbo lag - instant power and torque and sounds phenomenal.
I did have a lifter go out around 100k miles, again attributable to that DOD system. I also had MJ2 change out my oil pressure sensor that also got gummed up from the DOD system.
I had my DOD system electronically turned off but all the hardware is still there. If I lose another lifter on a DOD cylinder I will probably install a DOD delete kit that costs a few hundred bucks with all the hardware.
Besides the DOD stuff, it's been a solid truck. Does have the normal dash cracks but I got rid of the rattle with some weather stripping inside the seam. The chassis is great, the ride is really good, and of course the power is the main thing I love. If I ever total this truck I'm taking the motor with me.

Do you live in an area that plugs into the trucks computer during inspection? I.E. Ascension, Livingston, East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge...
I'm being told if you do live in one of these you can not get your vehicle inspected because it will trip an "environmental" code

The main interior difference ascetically is the brushed aluminum accent pieces on the dash in the GMC. Chevy's are all plastic no matter what trim level. I also liked the red dash lighting and the stitching. It was a nice change from the normal blueish green. But I think the newer models went back to the same color. Also you can get bucket seats in the GMC without having leather and that is something you cant do with the Chevy.
As for the interior ride quality, you wont find a truck that rides as good and as quiet as these. I have friends with F150's and Tundras. The hwy driving does not compare.
14 Denali, 6.2, its better in every way from the F150 I came from. That's just my reality before all the ford boys jump on me. I had the ecoboost. Cost me 7k that ford wouldn't warranty. The 6.2 is better on mileage and just a beast of an engine in a half ton pickup.

Once you get up to 65-70 the front seats all shake.
This is a problem that has been ongoing since the new body style has been introduced. Google it, lots of info out there. I know several people including myself that have these trucks with zero "Chevy Shake" symptoms.

I've had them look into it and always get the same "there's nothing wrong" answer.
You have to be persistent with these people. They tried to tell me the AC was causing a high pitch grinding noise that you could only hear when on the accelerator while traveling 40-45 mph. I did some digging and found out my ring gear was not torqued from the factory. Walked into the dealer with this info and they said no problem, we will have you a new rear end installed shortly.
my last truck was a 2010 ltz silverado.
Went in 2014 to get new pickup and i told them i wanted a basic one and didnt need all the extras. Ended up driving a few, and the last one i drove was the 2014 ltz.
Anddddddd i went home in the 2014 ltz silverado. I found out fast i couldnt do without the ltz package. The heated/ac seats, and heated steering wheel are GOAT during winter. And my next one will be a ltz. I was going this year to get another one but found out chevy is going to have a complete change in looks next yr so im going to wait

Yes. Went to the Benny's B-quik on Perkins for inspection last month. They didn't say anything about a tune and probably didn't even know it was there.
My tune on the engine/transmission/DOD was done by the former owner of Thunder Racing who now runs Engine Power Systems. The dude is unbelievably knowledgeable on LS motors.
