Didn't feel like staying here so I'm leaving at lunch, grabbing a stand and my bow, and heading in to Sherburne. Any advice on what area would be most easily accessed by foot? I haven't ever hunted there but I figure a bad evening in the woods is better than this.

Bring some hip boots and go deep into the water wherever it is. The big deer are smart and know where the hunters don’t go.

I hunt a few miles south of the interstate in ramah and there are tons of big deer, it just takes some work to get them.

You can walk in all over the place in Sherburne. There hasn't been too much pressure early on, probably due to temperatures and it being bucks-only.

I've made 4 hunts so far, seen hogs on two of them, nothing on the other 2. 2 morning hunts--last Friday, and Monday (which sucked royally due to humidity). Saw hogs Friday. Hunted Sunday mid-day (saw nothing), and yesterday evening. Actually took my first hog ever, and first kill with my bow last night.

You'll probably have a good shot at a hog anywhere you go, if that suits your fancy.

Where you coming from? I hunt mostly north end (190 side).

I'd be pumped to shoot a hog if I got the chance. I was planning on going on the south end off of bayou manuel road. I was gonna take a lock on and tree steps and try to find a hot oak.

I normally hunt Mississippi so I was wondering about rack restrictions here...does anterlered mean anything from a spike up? I probably wouldn't shoot a spike but just wondering.

Thanks!

That's always been my interpretation. Button bucks are technically antlerless deer.
